Is there anybody out there?
It seems as if every day another ‘earth-like’ planet is discovered somewhere in the universe. But how do we detect them and how can we tell if they could support life? This day features two amazing 3D Planetarium shows, and starts with a look at what alien life might look like, what life is made of at all, what it needs and where we should start searching for it. Students locate their own ‘exoplanets’ using an orrery and use spectroscopes to analyse light and find out if a planet’s atmosphere is habitable, before considering what would be a suitable home for alien life – or even a new home for us.
