Autism Friendly Early Opening (POSTPONED)

As of Wednesday the 18th of March, we’ve taken the decision to temporarily close our venue to visitors.

We’ve been listening to the latest guidance from the UK government for the public to limit contact with other people in social spaces in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’ll be following the scientific advice and playing our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in order to keep people safe and ease the pressure on our health services.

*You can read more about it here, as well as information on what to do if you have booked tickets for this event.*

As soon as we’re able to reopen, we’ll post updates on our website and social media channels.

Thanks to everyone for your support, we look forward to welcoming you all back when the time is right.

We're a big and sometimes noisy venue with lots going on and we know this can sometimes be challenging for visitors on the autism spectrum. The venue will be open early for this session from 9am and you'll have an hour and a half to explore our exhibits at your own pace, chat about what you discover with our staff, and take part in some intriguing activities.

There will be an autism-friendly show in our Planetarium at 10.15am (suitable for age 5+). The show will be in 2D, with softer music, the lights on and doors open, so you can leave at any time if needed. The show lasts around 30 minutes.

We will also be opening up the Planetarium for an Open Doors session between 9.15 and 9.45 am. This is a chance to have a look inside the Planetarium and get a feel for the space, prior to the show itself.

Early opening prices:

Adults and children aged 3 and above: £4.95 / £5.50 with gift aid

Personal Assistants: FREE

Planetarium tickets are an additional £2.50 per person. Please note that places for the show are limited due to capacity, so we recommend booking in advance when you purchase your ticket. You don't need a ticket to pop into the Open Doors session.
