The Box: Covid-19 Diaries
Our gallery space, The Box, features exhibitions and artists that occupy the exciting space where art and science meet.
Remotely filmed throughout isolation and the easing of lockdown last year, the Covid-19 Diaries captures the personal stories behind the unprecedented events of 2020 and explores how a global pandemic has changed us and the world as we know it.
In March 2020 when the first UK lockdown was announced, Bristol-based director and filmmaker Phoebe Holman issued a call on social media. Attempting to create connection in a time of disconnection, she asked people to submit video diaries of their individual experiences of the pandemic and how it had impacted on their lives. The result was a unique collaborative documentary project - anyone could submit a diary entry, all you needed was a device to record.
in response to our theme of 'A better world is possible', this installation focuses on the diary entrants working to support their local communities.
Step inside and immerse yourself in an edited collection of stories showing the positive action taken by many in response to Covid-19.
