Our dedicated home educator sessions can help you bring science to life, build confidence and deepen learning.
Over the next academic year, we're running one session each term on the following dates:
- Wednesday 11 November 2026 (Colourful Chemistry workshops now SOLD OUT)
- Friday 29 January 2027
- Friday 21 May 2027
You can now book tickets for the November date. Tickets for 2027 dates will be available soon, please sign up to our Home Educator mailing list to be notified when tickets go on sale.
Don't forget home educators can come and visit us anytime at a special rate of £8.50. We're open Tuesday-Sunday and recommend visiting after 2pm, when the venue tends to be quieter.
This year's home education programme
Each day includes a selection of our best education activities, catering for a range of key stages.
Activities are delivered by our education communicators, who are really skilled at adapting to the needs of the group and creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
You'll also have time to explore our venue, where you'll find over 200 exhibits and interactive activities that spark curiosity.

Booking info
To come along, you'll need to book enough home educator day tickets to cover everyone in your group - this gives you access to the venue for the whole day, so you can come and go as you please.
You'll also need to book yourself into the home ed workshops you'd like to attend on the day.
Home educator day tickets cost £8.50 (0-1s are free, but still need a ticket)
Workshops cost £5.50 per child, £1.50 per adult and additional non-participating child.
Science shows cost £4 per child, £1.50 per adult and additional non-participating child.

Looking for something more bespoke? If you're able to co-ordinate a group looking for the same thing, you can book one of the other activities that we offer within our broader education programme.
To do this, you'll need one contact that's happy to manage the booking process and act as co-ordinator for the group on the day.

Yes, we state the key stage to indicate the curriculum level of the content and resources, but if your child is learning at that level they are welcome to attend. The only exception is our laboratory workshops which sometimes have age restrictions for health and safety reasons.
Yes, if booked in advance. Accompanying adult and non-participating child tickets are available when booking - please make sure you've got enough to cover your whole group.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the adult to supervise and entertain any non-participating children - the workshop resources and staffing will be dedicated to the participating children. Laboratory age restrictions also apply to accompanying non-participating children.
Unfortuntely not. Booking close at midnight, the day before. This allows us to arrange the room and resources to best fit the number of participating/non-participating children and their adults.
Unfortunately we're not able to faciliate late entry as it disrupts the session once its underway.
Yes, if a child is under 12 they are required to be accompanied by an adult of your choosing (we need to know who this is in advance).
Children aged 12 and over are welcome to attend home ed workshops and shows unaccompanied. However, they need to have an adult in the venue in case of emergency, or if they are required to leave the session.
Please note this policy is slightly different to a general visit, when children aged 12 or over can be unaccompanied throughout the venue.
Absolutely! If there's a group of you all looking for the same experience, you can book in as an education group the same way schools do. This allows you to pick the date/time and workshop. It requires one person to act as coordinator during the booking process and to lead their group on the day. Please contact us for more information.
