Introduction
By entering into a membership agreement with We The Curious Limited (We The Curious) you accept these Membership Terms and Conditions.
Bookings and entry to the venue are governed by our Booking terms and conditions which can be accessed here - View booking terms and conditions
We regularly review and update these terms and conditions. This version was published on 09/06/26.
Membership validity and use
We The Curious memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Paid in full memberships will automatically expire the day before the anniversary of purchase unless they are renewed.
Direct Debit memberships will automatically renew on expiry unless you notify us that you do not wish to renew 2 weeks prior to the renewal date – please see section 6 for further details.
Membership isn’t transferable, so when you sign up, we will ask you for the names of all the individuals that will be using your membership.
Memberships are held by the primary account holder and may only be used for those individuals for whom the membership was purchased. We may ask you to show ID when you visit.
Under 12s - Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult throughout the venue. If the adult isn’t included in the membership, a separate Day Ticket will need to be purchased for them.
We strongly recommend that when purchasing a membership for a Child under 12 you purchase a joint membership and include an adult, as this will save you money in the long run.

We The Curious are a charity (registered charity number 1049954). We do not receive any regular government funding and are heavily reliant on ticket income, membership and donations. All failed payments have a direct impact on our finances as a charity.
Members are responsible for ensuring membership fees are paid. If payments are missed, we reserve the right to suspend or deactivate your membership.
Amendments to fees
The cost of membership is reviewed annually and typically increases at each review. You will be notified by email or by letter of any increase in charges. Any increase in charges will only take effect on renewal of your membership.
Discounts and promotional offers
From time to time, We The Curious may offer discounts and promotions. If this is the case, separate Terms and Conditions will apply as regards eligibility for and the duration of the discount or promotion.
Discounts and promotions are not transferable between individuals. Discount and promotion codes can only be used once and cannot be used with any other offer. We the Curious reserves the right to withdraw or amend any discount or promotion without notice.
Payment methods and renewals
Paid in full memberships
This is when a single payment is made for 12 months membership. Unless, renewed, the membership will automatically expire after 12 months.
You can renew your membership online here. Please note we do not accept cheques as payment. If you are paying in full you can ask us to contact you by phone to take payment.
Direct Debit memberships
We The Curious offers monthly Direct Debit as a payment option.
The cost is spread over 12 equal monthly, consecutive payments. Payments will continue until your membership is cancelled. Please note, the monthly amount may adjust a little, so that you only pay up to the correct full annual fee.
We The Curious no longer offers annual Direct Debit as a payment option. You’ll be switched over to an equivalent monthly Direct Debit if this applies to you.
Direct Debit cancellation - prior to renewal
We The Curious will contact you in writing at least 1 month prior to your first membership renewal payment date and will inform you that your membership is about to renew.
If you would like to cancel your membership before it renews, simply email us 2 weeks before the renewal payment date at membership@wethecurious.org and we will cancel the renewal for you. Notification less than 2 weeks prior to the renewal payment date may result in a payment being taken.
Upgrades, switches and changes
From 1 July 2026, paying ticket holders can upgrade their ticket to peak or off-peak membership and only pay the difference in price. This needs to be done within seven days of the visit.
Members may switch their membership to a new membership product if:
- Their membership is due for renewal, i.e. at the end of the 12-month term
- They hold an active off-peak membership and want to switch to peak membership
- They’ve been auto-renewed from standard membership onto peak membership, and they’d like to switch to off-peak membership. This must be done within 14 days
- They have no outstanding payments or breaches of terms
- We have sufficient alternative membership types available.
Further conditions and restrictions apply, see upgrades and switchover policy.
Whilst we may be able to adapt your membership and increase the size of your group, we are unable to reduce memberships already paid for.
In this scenario, any additional membership fees will be taken as a one-off payment and cannot be added to any existing payment schedule for Direct Debit members.
Cancellation of memberships – cooling off period
You have the right to cancel your membership during the 14 day period after the membership agreement is entered into (the cooling-off period), if any of the following apply:
- You purchased membership online, by email or over the phone
- You were automatically renewed from our old standard membership product onto our new peak membership product
- You were automatically renewed from an annual direct debit to monthly direct debit.
The right to cancel during the cooling off period will be lost if any part of the membership services are provided before the end of the cooling off period and you expressly requested that We The Curious provide those services, for example, by visiting We The Curious or the planetarium. If you have not used our services within the cooling off period, we will refund your membership fees within 14 days of receiving your cancellation request.
We will not be able to refund any Direct Debit membership payments after the 14 day cooling off period.
Notification of cancellation within the cooling-off period may be made in any way that is convenient to you. This includes by email to membership@wethecurious.org, by phone on 0117 915 1000 or by post to We The Curious, One Millennium Square, Anchor Road, Bristol, BS1 5DB.
