•The supervision, welfare and behaviour of the visiting groups are always the responsibility of the school group leader, including during workshops and shows. All accompanying adults should be supporting the school group leader in this. Please see our Code of Conduct for visiting school groups.
• For Key Stages 2 to 5 our required minimum ratio of students to supervising adult is 10 to 1. For Key Stage 1 it is 5 to 1, and for Reception and Pre-school students it is 3 to 1. Any accompanying 1:1 support are not to be included in these ratios. For students with additional needs, we ask the group leader to identify a suitable number of supporting adults and inform We The Curious prior to arriving if there is anything we need to be aware of to better support your visit.
• Key safety points are covered in briefings for schools at the beginning of their visit, but it would be advantageous to brief your groups of our expectation of no running or shouting within We The Curious
• There is a first-aid room available within We The Curious and first aid-trained staff are always available. Any incidents are recorded in an accident log. There is a Duty Manager available to deal with any emergency on a daily basis, any visitor facing member of staff can contact them if needed.
• Lost children: Our staff will remain with any lost children at the location where they were found and all our visitor facing teams will be notified via radio. To reunite, please approach any visitor facing member of staff.
• All the buildings and exhibits within We The Curious have been fully risk assessed. Risk assessments are monitored and regularly re-assessed.
• All activities and events run by We The Curious are risk assessed on an individual basis. When booking your visit, please inform us if there are any students in your group with additional needs to help us better meet these needs.
• Please make us aware of any member of your party with any susceptible conditions (e.g., epilepsy). Some activities or exhibits may include the use of allergens, pyrotechnic displays or equipment that could affect personal medical devices.
• Fire equipment is checked daily as part of the operational checklist and fire alarms and evacuation procedures are tested regularly.
• Environmental controls are in place to control temperature and humidity in We The Curious and all water areas are bromine treated.
• The We The Curious site is protected by 24-hour CCTV and security, including car parks and outdoor areas.
