An adult and a child are sat down in a lab in a science centre. They are both wearing grey tops and on the desk is a white board, a snow leopard and a little robot.

What would it look like if we could decide what schools were like in future?

Explore and get creative to add to our exhibition imagining what schools could be like to make them fairer for everyone.

There are six mini-activities in the space:

  • Head to the retro desks and smell, touch, and listen to connect with local Bristolian’s memories of school.
  • It's school dance time. Express how people’s stories of school make you feel through movement.
  • Make a clay model of what would you add to school to make it better (fairer)?
  • If you could do anything on your dream school day, what would it be? Decorate a piece of bunting to add to the display.
  • Share your thoughts and reflections on what you’ve experienced in the space, and your own school stories. Write it down or record it with the team.
  • Explore an interactive map of Bristol with stories from the repair-ed archive.

This project is in partnership with Reparative Futures of Education (Repair-Ed) from the University of Oxford, This collaboration builds on the team’s existing work which explores people’s experiences of schooling in relation to racial and class inequality in Bristol and how schools could be made fairer in future.

It's led by a facilitator capable of being responsive to audience needs and making reasonable adjustments.

The activity involves a loud/sudden noise that may be upsetting to some visitors.

Part of this activity also involves potent smell pots that aren't asthma or allergy risks.
