Inspired by our old Tongue-Twisting Tastes exhibits, join us in the Kitchen to explore what the 5 tastes are and see if you can match up the tastes with their names.

SOUR – Find out what makes things fizz. Make some sour sherbet to try.

BITTER – Where does chocolate come from? Find out what goes into it and enjoy a guided chocolate tasting.

SALT – How can salt help things freeze? Use some clever chemistry to make supercooled sorbet.

SWEET – We're getting technical in the kitchen as we get out the sugar thermometer and try our hand at some confectionary.

UMAMI – The ‘fifth taste’. Let’s chat about where it comes from and make some savoury seaweed snacks.
