Becoming an anti-racist organisation

Published: 02/12/2025

We The Curious is for everyone. Science is for and belongs to everyone. We’re a values-led educational charity, committed to creating an inclusive space that reflects the diversity of Bristol.

We know that science centres and museums have historically excluded many people; we acknowledge the existence of systemic racism and our responsibility to actively oppose it. Science is for and belongs to everyone.

We’re working to become an actively anti-racist organisation – that means we’re working to break down barriers, and challenge unfair systems. Race connects with other parts of who we are, and overlapping identities can deepen inequality. We are committed to building a place where everyone can play, learn, and be themselves.

This Anti-Racism Statement of Intent is part of our wider Anti-Racism Action plan, which in turn aligns with our Include Everyone strategy.

It’s led by our Race Equity Champions, a cross-departmental team and touches on areas such as training, recruitment, development pathways, partnerships and pay equity.

Many thanks to Bianca Jones (EDP Training) and our Board of Trustees for helping to shape and guide this statement of intent.
