We sometimes get questions about our tickets, so we thought we’d put a bit of information together about our different ticket types and free entry policies.

We offer a range of tickets at different price points, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to explore their curiosity.

Who we are:

We The Curious is an educational charity with a mission to connect people through creative experiences that celebrate science.

We don’t receive any direct central government funding (which means that we’re not connected to any taxes paid), and so we rely on ongoing, valuable support from our visitors, members, trustees, grantmakers, corporate partners and volunteers.

The income from ticket sales, donations and fundraising keeps our doors open and means we can run our charitable projects - by buying a ticket with us, you’re supporting our work as a charity.

What we do:

As a charity, we have a responsibility to create an environment that welcomes everyone and reflects the diversity of the city.

We’re committed to promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of our work. As part of our commitment to inclusion, we look to build strong, sustainable relationships with under-represented groups from across Bristol.

Working with partners, key community groups and critical friends in Bristol and beyond is an integral part of our strategy, with their valuable insight and feedback helping to shape our plans and activities together.

Our impact

While science has the potential to transform all our lives for the better, that only works if there is true representation, equity and equality of access for all.

Community research reflections

Lily Khandker reflects on her journey exploring experiences of incontinence for women over 45 from different communities in Bristol.

Nature Rising - a reflection

Between January – June 2025, The Box played host to ‘Nature Rising’ exhibition - a ground-breaking project led by Global Majority communities in Bristol.  After the exhibition had finished, we took a moment to reflect and chat through how it all came…

Future Sparks

Every child deserves the chance to explore, play and discover. That’s why this year, for our 25th birthday, we’re sparking curiosity with the next generation by pledging to deliver 25,000 free school visits.

Ticket types:

We have lots of types of visitors – and so we have lots of ticket types, which include:

  • Our open concession tickets include a 25% discount - this is the ticket for you if you’d normally qualify for a concession (so includes groups like disabled people, over 65s, students, home educators and anyone receiving Universal Credit). We don't require you to bring any proof of your concession status. And if our standard prices are simply out of reach at the moment, you can also opt for our open concession ticket - no questions asked.

  • Half price late entry ticket – this is a great way to visit during the week, running on weekdays during Bristol term time.

  • Free entry for personal assistants (carers, personal assistants and support workers) and foster carers. These tickets do need to be booked ,  so that we can manage our venue safely. They can be booked by either directly contacting our Bookings team on email or phone, or with our team in the foyer. To ensure that these tickets are protected for those who need them, we may request proof of eligibility.

  • Kids aged 0-1 also go free, these tickets still need to be booked so that we can manage our venue safely; you can add them to your online booking yourself, or with our Bookings team.

  • Our annual membership scheme costs roughly the same as three one-off visits and can be designed to fit your group. It offers year-round access, 50% off Planetarium shows and exclusive member newsletters, workshops and opportunities.

  • Free or discounted entry for schools - we offer 50% off entry for BS1-16 schools with at least 24% of students on free school meals. Thanks to support from our funders, we also run Future Sparks, our free school visits programme. This includes free entry, a show and transport for schools in BS1-16 (including alternative provisions and special SEND schools) with 30% or more students on free school meals.

  • Free entry for community members – through our Community Membership programme, which is designed for charities, not‑for‑profit services, and groups who face barriers to accessing We The Curious. We work with Bristol-based organisations including council services such as family and child services, children’s centres and community centres in priority wards, we support groups such as young carers, disabled adults, refugees and people seeking asylum. We’re committed to creating a welcoming, safe space and ensuring that families from refugee and asylum-seeking communities have access to enriching educational and cultural experiences.  This is an initiative that we’ve offered since 2017, having signed the City of Sanctuary pledge alongside other Bristol organisations.

We’re always seeking ways to be more inclusive. We run regular reviews which actively looks at the audiences who visits us, and who doesn’t – so that we can take steps to address any gaps.
